The basics are what make a wardrobe. Typically they are a solid color and depending on the season could be anywhere from white to black. They should not be too detailed or too trendy in design. If you think about them the way you would when you’re building a house … they are the framing or the structure rather than the interior designs. You’ll want to spend just a bit more on these items and ensure they are quality. Check out these pieces we found, they’re a good foundation to start with.

Costa Blanca
With the enormously popular layering now a styling must, you are going to have to keep a solid supply of under garments in your drawers. Costa Blanca shows all of this season latest fashions in their store layered with tanks and tees underneath. Layering is simple if you remember the first layer has to be the lightest weight and each layer after can be a bit heavier than the previous one. Be careful that you don’t get too bulky as you layer your look up. These tanks and tees are a perfect start (from $8.50 to $15.50) with many featuring subtle detail like ribbons and sequin. |

Dynamite
You had to know that with the popularity of the boyfriend blazer last year we’d definitely see it around for a while. Although the original was all about the simple classic silhouette a little oversized, this year we will see it more tailored and fitted. The rolled cuffs are what make this black blazer this season’s version of the boyfriend jacket and it’s only an amazing $42.00. It does come in white, but for a basic wardrobe options, my suggestion is to stick with the darker one. Although for this price why not pick up the white one just for fun!

Addition Elle
Finding the perfect fit is sometimes a challenge. Addition Elle has introduced a wonderful basic line of pants that come in four styles designed specifically for four different body types, Shaped, Curvy, Slim and Versatile. The experts in the store can help you find the fit that’s best for you, but one thing to keep in mind with this collection is how it all about proportional dressing for each body type. You don’t have to accept tons of extra fabric just to get the right fit.

Coles
A good book is a perfect way to escape. Coles has all the current best sellers with many of them on sale right now. The newest fiction from Stephen King – Under the Dome - tells the story of a mysterious dome that falls over a city that no one can get out of or in to. An Echo in the Bone is an historical fiction novel set in 17th century Scotland and has some wonderful romantic elements. The 3rd novel from the series ‘The girl with the Dragon Tattoo’ is called ‘The girl who kicked the Hornets’. I should also tell you that we found an entire section of classics at amazingly low prices as well. |

Eddie Bauer
As you’re heading out you are going to need something to pack it all in to. Eddie Bauer has a wonderful sale on all of their backpacks ($30. off) and their rolling duffle bags ($50. off). They’re made with Rip Stock material that makes them resistant to tears, they’re water resistant and also guaranteed for life. With so many different colors to choose from and a vast selection of sizes also available, it seems like now would be the perfect time to check them out. And with Back to School just around the corner (sorry for reminding some of you) it’s a heck of a good deal. |

Whether you choose gold or silver, crystals or another form of bling, shiny adds that little bit extra to your look. It doesn’t just finish it off; it adds that right amount of dress up to casual, business or formal. Its true you can certainly add too much and make it over the top, but take a look at these finds and see how just the right amount of shine tops off your look.

J Michaels
First I have to say I like the overall design of this lightweight sweater. The cowl neck and ½ length sleeves make this a perfectly comfortable piece under a blazer or on its own. The belt is attached with the shiny silver buckle adding that little bit extra. The regular price is $137.00 and it’s been marked down to $99.99 but the day I was in the store they were taking an extra 40% off. |

Cleo
For many the last things we add to our shopping experience are the accessories. It might be a budget issue or simply: we just don’t think about it. For several seasons now Jewellery has been so trendy and almost every store is carrying a solid line of costume jewellery at amazing prices. This year we saw a ton of lines with multi-strand necklaces and bracelets and I firmly believe they will continue to be popular for Fall 2010 and Spring 2011. So when you see a 50% off sign, like we did at Cleo, stop and take a look and pick up something to add to your wardrobe. |

Nygard
I walked into the Nygard store to find something interesting to feature and was immediately drawn to this piece. It might have been the bold print in black and white, the sheer fabric with the attached tank underneath or maybe it was the jewelled neckline. Put all that together and add in the sale price of $61.00, then it becomes a perfect show piece for your wardrobe. I’d recommend a solid color pant, skirt or leggings with this in white, grey or black. Stop in and try it on and see if it works for you! |

Often times the little things that add to our lives are the last things on our shopping lists. Today we found you some great deals on the best fashion accessories and a high tech device (at least for me) for your viewing pleasure. These are the finishing touches so to speak…the items that add that little bit extra to your life.

I have a PVR and although I am technology challenged, when I figured out how to work it, my TV viewing life has never been the same. So when I saw that Sony has the HDTC PVR on sale for $150.00 less, I knew I had to let you know. You can pause, rewind and fast forward recorded and live TV shows and I cannot imagine my life without it. Get all the details in store! |

Sunglass Hut
The most popular choice for eyewear has been the larger lenses shape and one of the biggest names in classic fashion trends is Prada. When you put the two together you get a pretty hot pair of sunglasses that are not only fashionable but very comfortable to wear. Check out the clearance selection on sale right now and when you shop on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday you save an additional 30% off (until Labour Day). Good price and good style! |

Watch IT!
I used to feel bad for the watch since it seemed to be that one item we took for granted. We bought one every now and then, put it on each and every day and unless we need to know what time it is, ignore it. Now watches are now considered an important fashion accessory and these Marc Ecko watches with their stand out crystal bling, are all about great styling! Any style you want is 20%off and you should also check out the collection from Donna Karen (not shown) also 20% off. |

Below the Belt
I stopped in the Below the Belt store here in Kingsway in the middle of a huge mark down. So many items are going to be on sale. I found this great pair of ladies Silver brand jeans in a good medium shade denim and strong stitching detail. A great price at $69.99. The fit, a mid rise with a straight cut leg makes a pretty good choice for anyone looking for a comfortable fit at a darn good price. |

Buffalo David Bitton
The staff in Buffalo told me that every season they carry white denim because they are a popular choice with style conscious buyers. The cuts may change a bit, but you can certainly get a couple of years or wear out of these styles. They’ve got white jeans for guys on sale at $89.99 and they have a very light pair of ladies distressed jeans for $99.99. Do you own a pair of white denim? Oh and by the way, they wanted me to make sure I told you they have lots of ladies denim on sale for $49.99. |
