How ever you say it…Spring is in the Air…Spring Fever…Spring has sprung…it doesn’t matter because Winter is on its way out! Walking into the stores here at Kingsway Mall, you can see the colors getting brighter and the fabrics lighter everywhere. Over the next couple of weeks I’ll show you a few of the fashion trends that caught my eye. Make sure you check back to this page often. To start with though, I wanted to share a few of the things I found that at first glance were pretty cool. I am always drawn to bold designs with unique detailing, dramatic lines and quirky ways to make things individual.

These shoes from Aldo are a strong indication of the trend we are seeing all over with ladies fashion. Ruffles and lace adorn delicate fabrics and are used as an embellishment to update strong designs. The platform shoe continues to be a popular choice with a gladiator style wrapping on so many different styles.

I was drawn to this piece from Bootlegger initially because of the belt. So many styles are shown with the belt wrapped outside and around the waist and this one caught my eye. When I noticed all the detail in the always popular army green style, I was convinced this jacket, that takes its influence from military style was a good choice for slightly cooler days.

After years of skinny everything…including legs, GAP is showing us a wider legged pant. It was only a matter of time for skinny to go wide and we are seeing the trend of looser fitting clothing in blouses, sweaters and even suiting. I for one am happy about anything that means I don’t have to always walk around with my gut sucked in.

Every year around this time we see lots of feminine looks. It’s hard to call dresses a trend, but so many of the stores have really embraced looks and styles designed with a softer and more delicate line. Dresses are purely feminine and just like we’ve seen last year they are popping up in so many stores…and now with dramatic patterns, colors and shapes.

When I saw the new fashions for Thyme maternity, I was a little surprised…mainly because they didn’t look like the traditional maternity styles I was used to seeing. This silk top with the beautiful Asian inspired pattern is truly beautiful and sure to make any expectant mother glow. I love the balloon sleeves and with the simple neckline was a personal favourite of mine when I saw the new collection.
